What we would tell you in the studio
- Wide leg shape. The legs fall straight and wide from the high waist down to the hem. The fabric holds enough body to maintain its shape without clinging as you walk.
- Waistband and closure. A flat front with a zipper closure meets an elasticated waistband at the back. It stays set at the waist while leaving room through the hips and seat.
- Side pockets. We built two deep pockets into the side seams. They sit flat when empty and hold small daily items without pulling the line of the hip out of shape.
- Fabric care. Machine wash cold inside a mesh laundry bag to protect the hardware and seams. Tumble dry on low heat or hang dry to keep the surface smooth.
Living with this one
Do
- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
- Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.
Skip
- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
- Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
