Halter Tops for Women Date Night Outfits

We knit this halter top in a light cream yarn with a soft hand and natural stretch. The crossover neckline frames the collarbone while the body drops loose down toward the lower hemline. It works on its own in warm weather or under an unbuttoned jacket when temperatures cool down.

What we would tell you in the studio

  • Crossover halter neck. The neckline crosses at the front and fastens around the neck, leaving the shoulders bare. The band sits flat against the skin without digging in or twisting out of shape.
  • Fine gauge knit. We use a lightweight yarn blend with viscose and nylon that gives the knit a gentle drape. It stays cool against bare skin and holds its shape after a full day of wear.
  • Long relaxed drape. The body is cut wide and hangs away from the waist, falling down into an extended hem. The extra length lets the fabric swing naturally as you move rather than clinging.
  • Washing and care. Hand wash in cool water with a mild detergent to keep the cream tone bright. If you use a machine, select the gentle cycle with cold water, skip the bleach, and lay flat to dry.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
