Halter Tops for Women Date Night Outfits

We knit this light yellow piece with a crossover halter neckline set against long sleeves. The body is cut roomy, falling away from the torso to an extended hem below the knee. The yarn is fine and smooth, knitted with enough stretch to keep the shape clear across a full day of wear.

What we would tell you in the studio

  • Crossover neckline. The halter panel crosses at the neck and opens down the front. It stays flat against the collarbone without twisting, framing the throat while the shoulders stay bare.
  • Long sleeves and drape. Full-length sleeves balance the open neckline and drop straight to the wrist. The fine-gauge knit gives the roomy body a loose, fluid drop that clears the waist and hips.
  • Light yellow yarn. The yarn feels cool and soft on bare skin, spun for warmer days and mild evenings. The light yellow dye is even throughout, and other colourways are knitted in their own separate runs.
  • Washing and care. Hand wash in cold water or run a gentle machine cycle with mild detergent. Skip the bleach. Lay the knit flat on a clean towel to dry so the long hem keeps its lines.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
