What we would tell you in the studio

  • Ribbed stitch and yarn. We use a soft, flexible rib knit that gives both the top and the pants substantial stretch. The surface has a brushed finish that rests softly against bare skin without itching.
  • Exposed seams and sleeves. The raglan sleeves drop well off the shoulder to create a wide, relaxed shape through the body. Exposed seam details run along the construction lines to frame the cut.
  • Trouser waist and leg. The matching pants feature a wide, knitted elastic waistband with an adjustable drawstring. The legs fall straight down from the hip to clear your shoes with a clean drape.
  • Washing and shape care. Hand wash in cold water or run a gentle cycle inside a mesh laundry bag. Lay both pieces flat on a clean towel to dry so the ribbed knit keeps its shape.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
