Women 2 Piece Matching Lounge Sweater Sets

We knit this two piece set from a soft, springy rib yarn with exposed outer seam details along the top and bottoms. The crewneck pullover hangs loose through the body, while the wide leg trousers sit on a flexible drawstring waistband. Both pieces are dyed together in dark apricot for an exact colour match.

What we would tell you in the studio

  • Exposed seam details. The outside seam lines run along the dropped raglan sleeves and down the trouser legs. These raised edges give the ribbed fabric clear definition and keep the silhouette structured without adding internal bulk.
  • Crewneck and raglan cut. The top features a simple round crewneck and long raglan sleeves that drop low at the shoulder. Ribbed cuffs hold the wrists in place, while the body falls straight to land around the hip.
  • Wide ribbed trousers. We shaped the matching pants with a wide palazzo leg and an elastic waistband secured by a knit drawstring. The ribbed fabric hangs freely away from the legs and pools slightly at the hem.
  • Wash and flat dry. Wash both pieces together in cool water using a gentle cycle to preserve the dye shade. Lay them flat on a towel away from direct heat so the ribbing retains its shape and elasticity.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
