What we would tell you in the studio

  • Ribbed knit texture. The grey ribbing gives the fabric natural give and recovery throughout the day. It has a soft hand that feels comfortable worn directly against bare skin.
  • Crewneck and raglan top. The sweater is cut roomy with a plain round neckline and low-set raglan sleeves. Ribbed bands finish the cuffs and the lower hem where it settles at the hip.
  • Relaxed trouser cut. The trousers fall straight through the leg from a gathered elastic waist with an adjustable drawcord. Outside seams run down the sides to match the top.
  • Laundering and care. Wash the pieces in cold water on a gentle cycle, using a mesh bag to protect the ribbing. Lay both flat on a towel to dry so the knit keeps its shape.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
