Women 2 Piece Sweater Matching Lounge Sets

We knit both halves of this set together so the apricot coffee yarn matches across top and bottom. The top is cut loose with a high neck and short sleeves, falling clean past the waist without clinging. The matching knit trousers taper toward the ankle to balance the roomy top.

What we would tell you in the studio

  • High neck and cut. A high mock neck sits close to the throat while the rest of the body falls straight down. The cut stays well clear of the waist, giving the yarn room to move freely as you walk.
  • Short sleeve gauge. Short sleeves keep the shoulders covered without adding bulk under an outer jacket. We use a flat knit gauge that holds its shape through regular wear while staying soft to the touch.
  • Apricot coffee yarn. The warm apricot coffee tone runs through both pieces from a single dye lot. Wearing the matching set gives a uniform look, or you can split the pieces to pair with denim or fine ribs.
  • Washing and drying. Hand wash in cold water or use a gentle cycle inside a mesh laundry bag. Press the excess water out with a clean towel and dry both pieces flat to keep the hems from stretching out.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
