Womens 2 Piece Summer Short Sets

We knit this two-piece set in a soft blue yarn with a lightweight hand. The top features a plain round crew neck and long sleeves, while the matching bottoms fall long toward the ankle with an easy, roomy hang. Both pieces are dyed together so the shade stays uniform.

What we would tell you in the studio

  • Roomy set proportions. The cut hangs away from the body from the shoulders through the hem. That extra room gives the lightweight fabric space to move freely without clinging as you walk or sit.
  • Crew neck and sleeves. We finished the top with a simple round crew neckline that sits flat against the collarbone. The long sleeves provide steady coverage and end in clean, unbanded cuffs.
  • Trousers with side pockets. The matching bottoms fall long past the knee, anchored by an adjustable drawstring waist. We inset practical side pockets directly into the seams to keep the outer lines clean.
  • Dye lot and washing. Knitting the top and bottoms in the same dye run keeps the blue tone identical across both pieces. Machine wash on a gentle cycle in cold water, then lay flat to dry.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
