What we would tell you in the studio

  • Henley neckline top. The top opens with a small henley button placket under a shaped neck. Cap sleeves keep the shoulders light, while the body hangs straight down to meet the waistband without clinging.
  • Drawstring short waist. We gave the shorts a wide knitted waistband fitted with an adjustable front tie. Deep side pockets sit flat along the outer seams so the fabric retains its shape through daily wear.
  • Dark blue dye lot. Knitted together from one dye batch, the top and shorts share the exact same depth of dark blue yarn. The smooth stitch gives the set a matte, uniform finish across both garments.
  • Laundering and care. Wash both pieces together in cool water on a gentle cycle to keep the colour balanced across the set. Lay the knit flat to dry so the waistband and hems maintain their original shape.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
