What we would tell you in the studio

  • Henley neck cut. The top uses a shaped placket neck with small buttons so you can adjust how open it sits. Cap sleeves keep the shoulder light and give your arms full freedom of motion.
  • Drawstring knit shorts. We added deep side pockets to the shorts and finished the waistband with a working drawstring. The cut hangs loose through the leg without bunching up when you sit or walk.
  • Matching purple dye. Both pieces come from the same dye lot for an exact match in tone. You can wear the pair together or break them apart to layer over other plain separates.
  • Washing and care. Wash this set in cold water on a gentle cycle to protect the stretch and knit texture. Lay both pieces flat on a dry towel so the waistband and seams keep their shape.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
