What we would tell you in the studio

  • Henley neckline. The collar opens into a clean Henley placket that rests flat across the collarbone. It gives the top structure without adding bulk around the neck.
  • Tailored short construction. The matching shorts sit with a relaxed leg and an adjustable drawstring waist. We added functional side pockets set directly into the knit seams.
  • Lightweight knit hand. We used a fine, smooth gauge that moves easily and keeps its shape after hours of lounging. The yarn feels cool to the touch and hangs cleanly away from the skin.
  • Washing and drying. Wash this set on a gentle cycle in cold water with similar colours. Lay both pieces flat on a clean towel to dry so the stitches maintain their shape.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
