What we would tell you in the studio

  • Henley neckline. The collar opens with a neat button placket down the front. You can fasten it all the way up for a clean round finish or leave it unbuttoned over a light tank.
  • Cap sleeve cut. We cut the sleeves short and wide at the shoulder seam so the arms stay free. The armhole is finished with flat binding that sits smooth against the skin.
  • Shorts with pockets. The bottoms have a wide waistband with an integrated drawstring to adjust the fit. Side seam pockets sit flat when empty and hold small items without pulling the waist down.
  • Care and washing. Wash both pieces together in cold water on a gentle cycle so the mocha tone stays matched over time. Lay them flat to dry away from direct heat to protect the stretch.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
