What we would tell you in the studio
- Crew neck and shoulders. The neckline sits high and clean with narrow banded binding. Deep armholes leave the shoulders bare, sitting flat against the skin without digging in or gaping when you move.
- Close knit structure. We used a smooth, fine yarn with built-in stretch so the bodycon shape holds its line. The fabric stays opaque while resting tight across the torso and hips.
- Short straight hem. The hem is finished with a flat turn that lands mid-thigh. It stays put as you walk instead of riding up, giving the clean shape a crisp lower edge.
- Washing and care. Machine wash cold inside a mesh laundry bag alongside similar colors to protect the surface from friction. Lay the knit flat across a drying rack so the dress retains its length.
Living with this one
Do
- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
- Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
