Wide Leg Dress Work Pants Womens Trousers Slacks Pantalones Mujer

A wide trouser with front pleating and an elastic back waist that sits flat while you move. We cut these with extra room through the leg so the cloth hangs away from the body. The navy blue yarn holds its shape through a full day of wear without gathering hard wrinkles at the lap.

What we would tell you in the studio

  • Paperbag waist and belt. Front pleats feed directly into a gathered paperbag waist. The back waistband is elasticized to hold its place, and a removable tie belt lets you cinch the top edge as closely as you prefer.
  • Roomy wide leg cut. The legs run wide and straight to a cropped lower hem. Because the cloth stays off the skin, the trousers drape in clean vertical lines rather than clinging through the thighs or calves.
  • Deep side pockets. Two inset side pockets sit along the seam line for small items. They rest flat against the hip when empty so the line of the pleat stays uninterrupted.
  • Care and washing. Wash cold in a mesh bag on a gentle cycle to protect the waistband stitching. Lay them flat to dry or run on low tumble heat, and skip the bleach so the dark navy yarn stays solid.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
