Womens Bodycon Maxi Long Dresses

We knit this maxi dress with a double-layered structure that hugs close from the neck to the lower hem. The crew neckline sits flat at the collarbone. Long sleeves extend to the wrists, and the length falls well past the knee in a smooth, continuous column. The champagne shade has a quiet, pale warmth.

What we would tell you in the studio

  • Double layer knit. We knit this piece with two fine layers joined together. This gives the fabric extra opacity and body while maintaining four-way stretch across the torso, arms, and hips.
  • Crew neckline and sleeves. The round crew neck sits close to the base of the throat without pulling. Full-length sleeves run straight down the arm, finishing cleanly at the wrist with a folded edge.
  • Maxi length hem. The hem drops straight down past the calf toward the ankle. Because the knit has substantial recovery, the bottom edge holds its shape rather than curling or bagging after hours of wear.
  • Cold wash care. Machine wash cold inside a mesh laundry bag to protect the fine surface. Tumble dry on a low heat setting, or lay the piece flat on a drying rack.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
