Womens Bodycon Maxi Long Dresses

We knit this dress with a double-layered structure that keeps the fabric opaque and firm against the skin. It sits close from the plain round crew neck through the long sleeves and down to the low hem. The knit carries generous stretch and holds its shape throughout the day.

What we would tell you in the studio

  • Double layer knit. Two fine knit layers work together to provide complete coverage and a dense hand. The yarn is soft against bare skin, with enough recovery to sit close without pulling thin across the body.
  • Neckline and sleeves. The round crew neck sits flat at the base of the throat without gaping. Full-length sleeves follow the arm down to a simple, unribbed cuff that tucks neatly into outerwear or stays put pushed up.
  • Ankle length hem. The skirt drops straight to the lower leg and ankle. It creates a clean vertical line that works equally well over flat leather sandals or paired with a heavier boot when temperatures drop.
  • Care instructions. Machine wash on cold using a mesh laundry bag to protect the fine surface from snagging. Tumble dry on a low heat setting, or lay flat to dry to preserve the length of the skirt.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
