Womens Bodycon Maxi Long Dresses

We knit this maxi dress with a double-layered structure to keep the fabric smooth and opaque through the body. The cut sits close from the plain round crew neck down past the knee, finishing in a long, clean hem. It has plenty of give throughout the yarn and stays flat against the skin.

What we would tell you in the studio

  • Double layer body. Two fine knit layers work together to give the body opacity and gentle hold. The yarn feels smooth directly against the skin, holding its shape without feeling heavy or stiff through a full day.
  • Crew neckline and cut. The plain round crew neckline sits flat at the collarbone. It frames the upper chest cleanly while the sleeveless cut leaves the shoulders free, making it easy to slip under cropped cardigans or light jackets.
  • Long column hem. The skirt drops straight from the hip down toward the ankle. Because the knit has elastic recovery, the hem stays narrow while still letting your stride move freely without bunching.
  • Cold wash care. Machine wash on cold inside a mesh laundry bag to protect the fine stitch work. Tumble dry on low heat or lay the piece flat to preserve the stretch and clean recovery over time.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
