Womens Summer Casual Slip Dresses Double Lined Bodycon Maxi Dress

We knit this bodycon maxi with a double-layered structure for total opacity and a smooth finish. The fine knit sits close to the frame from the narrow shoulder straps down to the ankle hem. It works bare in warm weather or under an open knit cardigan when the temperature drops.

What we would tell you in the studio

  • Double lined knit. Two layers of fine-gauge knit fabric give the dress weight and opacity. The yarn has high elasticity, so the knit stretches across the body and recovers its line when you take it off.
  • Neckline and straps. The narrow shoulder straps feed into a clean round crew line that sits flat across the collarbone. Clean bound edges keep the neckline from rolling or curling during all-day wear.
  • Long column hem. The skirt runs in a straight column down past the calf, finishing at the ankle. A neat turned hem keeps the bottom edge anchored so the knit does not ride up as you walk.
  • Washing and care. Machine wash cold inside a mesh laundry bag to protect the fine knit surface from snagging. Tumble dry on low heat or lay the piece flat on a towel to preserve its shape.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
