2 Piece Lounge Sets for Women

We knit this two-piece set as a matching pair in solid black. The top has a plain round crewneck and full sleeves, while the trousers fall in a straight wide leg from an elastic waistband with a knit drawstring. Both pieces stay off the skin without billowing.

What we would tell you in the studio

  • Crew neckline and top. The top is built with a classic round crewneck that sits flat against the collarbone. The hem finishes around the hip, giving you enough length to wear untucked over the waistband or loose over a base layer.
  • Wide trousers with drawstring. We gave the trousers an elasticated waist with an adjustable knitted cord so you can set the rise. The legs drop straight and wide from the hip down to the floor, holding their line rather than clinging.
  • Yarn and drape. The knit uses a smooth, stretchy yarn with a dense hand that holds deep black dye evenly. It has enough weight to pull the trousers downward into a clean drape while moving easily as you walk.
  • Washing and flat drying. Machine wash the pair on a gentle cold cycle with like dark colours, or dry clean. Lay both pieces flat on a towel to dry so the heavy wide legs do not stretch out on a hanger.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
