What we would tell you in the studio

  • Crewneck top cut. The top is knitted with a plain round crewneck and full-length sleeves. It sits straight through the torso rather than pulling tight, ending in a clean hem that meets the waistband.
  • Wide leg trouser. We shaped the trousers with a wide leg that hangs straight from the hip down. An elastic waistband with an adjustable cord keeps them sitting where you set them.
  • Matched red dye. Both pieces are knitted together in the same red dye lot so the colour matches across the set. The knit carries enough stretch to move freely and bounce back after sitting.
  • Washing and care. Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle or dry clean. Reshape both pieces while damp and lay them flat to dry so the long sleeves and trouser legs keep their length.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
