2 Piece Lounge Sets for Women

We knit both halves of this set from the same dark heather grey yarn for an exact match in shade and weight. The top sits straight through the body with a plain crew neckline, while the trousers fall wide down to the ankle with an elasticated waistband and drawstring.

What we would tell you in the studio

  • Crew neck top. The top is knitted with a clean round crewneck and long sleeves that rest gently at the wrist. The hem lands around the hip, giving the piece a straight, uncinched line that sits off the body.
  • Wide leg trouser. We cut the bottoms with a wide, straight leg from the hip down. The waist uses a knit encased elastic band backed by an adjustable drawstring cord so the rise stays in place as you walk.
  • Dark heather yarn. The dark heather grey blends lighter and darker tones within the spun yarn, adding visual depth to a smooth, flat knit. The fabric has natural give and recovers its shape after sitting.
  • Washing and care. Machine wash on a cold, gentle cycle inside out with like colours, or dry clean. Lay both pieces flat on a clean towel to dry rather than hanging to keep the trousers from stretching.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
