2 Piece Lounge Sets for Women

We knit this two-piece set in dusty blue as a balanced pairing of a straight crewneck pullover and wide trousers. The yarn is soft with a clean drape and plenty of give. The top rests near the hip, while the trousers fall straight from a drawcord waist. Wear them together or break them apart.

What we would tell you in the studio

  • Crewneck and long sleeves. The top is built with a round ribbed crewneck that stays flat against the collarbone. Long straight sleeves finish cleanly at the wrist without tight binding, matching the relaxed cut through the chest and waist.
  • Wide-leg knit trousers. We gave the bottoms a wide cut that falls straight from the hip through the leg opening. The waistband holds an elastic core and an adjustable drawstring to secure the rise.
  • Dusty blue yarn. The yarn carries a muted blue tone with a cool gray undertone throughout the knit. It feels smooth against bare skin and keeps its color depth through regular wear.
  • Wash and shape. Machine wash on a gentle cycle in cold water or dry clean. Lay both pieces flat on a clean towel to dry rather than hanging, which keeps the shoulders and waistline from stretching out.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
