2 Piece Lounge Sets for Women

We knit this two piece set as a balanced pair, running horizontal bands of navy and green through both pieces. The top has a crewneck and long sleeves, cut straight through the torso to sit at the hip. Below, the matching trousers fall wide from an elastic drawstring waist.

What we would tell you in the studio

  • Crew neckline and sleeves. A plain round crew neck sits close to the collarbone without pulling tight. Long sleeves run straight down the arm to finish in a clean edge, keeping the line simple against the striped pattern.
  • Straight hip length top. The top hangs straight down without tapering at the side seams, landing around the hip. It creates an uncluttered hem that sits easily over the gathered waistband of the pants.
  • Wide leg trouser cut. The trousers feature a wide leg that falls straight from the seat down to the shoe. An elastic band with an adjustable knit drawstring keeps the waist where you place it without digging in.
  • Washing and yarn care. Machine wash the set in cold water on a gentle cycle, or dry clean it. Lay both pieces flat on a rack or towel to dry so the knit retains its original length and line.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
