2 Piece Striped Sweater Lounge Sets for Women

Horizontal bands of warm nutmeg run across the body and sleeves of this relaxed knit set. We cut both the pullover and the trousers loose, letting the yarn hang away from the body without clinging. The crew neckline sits flat, while the sleeves drop into low batwing armholes.

What we would tell you in the studio

  • Roomy knit top. The sweater is built with dropped batwing shoulders and long sleeves that gather softly at the wrists. The straight hem sits at the hip, giving the top an easy drape over the matching waistband.
  • Wide leg trousers. We knit the matching pants with a high elastic waist and a straight, wide leg all the way to the hem. They hang with enough weight to keep their line without binding through the thighs.
  • Nutmeg stripe gauge. Both pieces are knitted from the same dye lot in striped nutmeg so the bands match in tone. The yarn carries enough stretch to move comfortably through a long day of wear.
  • Washing and care. Hand wash or run on a gentle cycle in cold water inside a mesh bag. Reshape both pieces while damp and dry flat on a clean towel to protect the waistband and hem length.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
