2 Piece Striped Sweater Lounge Sets for Women

We knit this two-piece set as a matching pair, combining horizontal pink stripes with a roomy cut. The top features a round crew neck and relaxed batwing sleeves, while the trousers fall straight through a wide leg with an elastic waistband. Both pieces hang away from the body for an easy feel.

What we would tell you in the studio

  • Crew neck top. The sweater is built with a simple crew neckline and wide batwing sleeves that narrow gently at the wrist. Its hem lands near the hip, keeping the proportions balanced against the trousers.
  • Wide leg trousers. Knitted with an elastic waistband that sits high, the trousers drop straight to the floor in a loose, full cut. The knit has enough weight to keep the leg shape steady as you walk.
  • Striped knit structure. We work the pink stripes directly into the knit fabric rather than printing them on top. Both pieces share the same yarn weight and tension, so the pullover and pants age and soften together.
  • Care for the set. Hand wash in cold water or run on a gentle cycle inside a mesh laundry bag. Lay both pieces flat on a clean towel to dry so the knit legs and sleeves do not stretch out.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
