2 Piece Striped Sweater Lounge Sets for Women

We knit this two piece set with horizontal stripes in brown and blue across a generous, boxy top. The crew neckline sits flat, while the sleeves fall into a loose batwing shape. Matching trousers hang straight from an elastic waistband down to wide cuffs. Wear both together as a uniform or break them apart across the week.

What we would tell you in the studio

  • Crew neck and drop sleeve. The top has a clean round neck and batwing sleeves that start low on the body. Ribbing frames the collar and holds the wrist so the volume gathers softly along the arm.
  • Wide leg trouser. The pants are cut straight through the leg with plenty of room through the thigh and hem. A covered elastic waistband holds its place without digging in during long hours seated.
  • Striped colour balance. We alternated bands of brown and blue in a smooth flat knit across both pieces. The horizontal pattern lines up cleanly across the body, giving the set a solid graphic weight.
  • Laundering the pair. Wash both pieces together in cold water on a gentle cycle so the knitwear wears and fades at the same rate. Lay flat on a towel to dry to keep the trousers from stretching out.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
