What we would tell you in the studio
- Wide off-shoulder neck. The broad neckline spreads across the shoulders without tight elastic. You can wear it centered as a wide boat neck or pull one side down for an asymmetrical line.
- Roomy body and drape. We knit this with plenty of ease through the chest and torso. The fabric falls straight down from the dropped shoulders rather than clinging to the midsection.
- Short sleeve proportion. Short sleeves drop low on the upper arm due to the relaxed shoulder line. The sleeves stay loose, leaving space for easy movement in warmer weather.
- Cropped straight hem. The hem is cut short to meet the waistband of high-waisted bottoms. Wash in cool water and lay flat on a towel to preserve the width and shape.
Living with this one
Do
- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
- Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
- Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
