Off The Shoulder Tops Oversized Short Sleeve Tshirts

We knit this top in a light gauge yarn with a relaxed body that hangs away from the torso. The neckline opens wide across the collarbones, paired with a short sleeve and a cropped hem. It tucks neatly into high-waist knit skirts or sits clean over wide-leg trousers.

What we would tell you in the studio

  • Wide neckline. The neck opens broad across the top of the frame, designed to rest off the shoulder or wide across the collarbone. It lies flat without binding bands.
  • Roomy cropped body. We cut the body loose and square through the waist, finishing at a higher hemline. The fabric falls straight down rather than pulling in at the base.
  • Short sleeve cut. The sleeves drop low from an extended shoulder seam, providing light coverage that ends above the elbow. The opening remains wide to match the relaxed body gauge.
  • Care and handling. Wash this piece on a gentle cycle in cool water to protect the yarn texture. Lay it flat across a towel to dry so the wide neck keeps its line.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
