Off The Shoulder Tops Oversized Short Sleeve Tshirts

We knit this short-sleeve top in saturated red with a wide neck that rests across the shoulders. The roomy body hangs away from the waist and finishes at a cropped hem. It sits easily over high-rise knit trousers or skirts without bunching.

What we would tell you in the studio

  • Wide shoulder neckline. The wide neck opening sits off the shoulder to leave the collarbones bare. It keeps its shape along the bound edge without sliding down the arm during wear.
  • Roomy short-sleeve cut. We cut the short sleeves wide and set them into an oversized torso. The fabric falls straight down rather than clinging to the chest or waist.
  • Cropped straight hem. The hem finishes short, clearing the hip line entirely. That shorter length pairs cleanly with high-waisted bottoms, keeping extra bulk out of your waistband.
  • Care for soft knits. Wash in cold water on a gentle cycle to protect the red dye and soft yarn surface. Lay it flat on a dry towel to dry so the neck retains its shape.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
