Off The Shoulder Tops Oversized Short Sleeve Tshirts

We knit this top with a generous cut so the fabric hangs away from the torso rather than clinging. The neckline sits wide and level, while the short sleeves drop off the shoulder line. It is finished with a higher hem designed to sit neatly over wide-leg knit trousers or high-rise skirts.

What we would tell you in the studio

  • Neckline and shoulder cut. The neck opening is wide and finished flat, resting easily across the collarbones without tight binding. It lets the shoulders settle naturally into the loose body of the top.
  • Roomy body shape. The knit hangs straight down from the underarms with plenty of ease through the chest and waist. Air moves freely through the open shape across warm afternoons.
  • Cropped hem finish. We cut the hemline on the shorter side so it rests near the waistband. It keeps extra fabric from bunching up when you wear it over our knit bottoms.
  • Washing and yarn care. Machine wash cold inside out using a gentle cycle and mild detergent. Lay the knit flat across a drying rack so the lightweight fabric retains its original square shape.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
