Off The Shoulder Tops Oversized Short Sleeve Tshirts

We knit this short sleeve top with a broad off the shoulder neckline and an open, relaxed body. The khaki yarn has a smooth, fluid hand that drapes away from the torso rather than clinging. Cut short at the hem, it balances cleanly against high rise trousers or knit skirts.

What we would tell you in the studio

  • Neckline and shoulders. The wide band sits open across the collarbones without tight elastic. It stays in place through natural knit stretch, resting flat against the skin without bunching.
  • Body and drape. We cut the torso wide and square so the fabric falls straight down. The lightweight yarn moves easily and hangs free of the waist, keeping air moving in warm weather.
  • Cropped hem line. The bottom edge finishes high, clearing the hip line completely. This short proportion pairs naturally with wide leg knit pants or structured high waisted skirts.
  • Yarn care. Hand wash in cool water with a mild liquid soap to protect the smooth finish. Squeeze out excess water gently in a towel and dry flat on a rack.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
