What we would tell you in the studio

  • Half-high collar. The neck stands upright in a double-layer knit that holds its shape without binding. It sits close enough to block a cold draft while leaving room for an undershirt.
  • Wide trouser leg. The knit trousers fall straight from a drawcord waist into a relaxed, wide cut. Inset pockets sit flat along the side seams so the line stays clean when empty.
  • Yarn and gauge. We blended fine yarns to give this set a smooth hand and balanced weight. It retains its structure through hours of sitting without bagging out at the knees or elbows.
  • Machine care. Wash both pieces together on a cold cycle in a mesh laundry bag to protect the knit face. Tumble dry on low heat or lay flat to dry.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
