Women Lounge Two 2 Piece Matching Set Fall

Horizontal cream and black stripes run across both pieces of this matching knit set. We shaped the top with a high collar and straight hip-length hem, paired with relaxed trousers that fall straight through the leg. The yarn has a soft, smooth hand with built-in give for ease of movement.

What we would tell you in the studio

  • High mock collar. The collar stands up around the base of the neck without folding over. It holds its upright shape through a fine rib structure that sits close without pressing.
  • Trousers with side pockets. We cut the trousers with a straight leg and set an adjustable drawcord into the waistband. Flat side pockets sit flush along the outer seam so they do not add bulk when empty.
  • Yarn and striped pattern. Knitted from a smooth yarn blend with added stretch, the fabric holds clear cream and black stripes. Both top and bottom are knitted from matching lots so the tone stays uniform.
  • Washing and flat drying. Place the pieces in a mesh laundry bag and run on a cold machine cycle. Lay them flat on a towel to dry so the weight of wet yarn does not pull the legs or sleeves out of shape.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
