What we would tell you in the studio
- Mock neck collar. The collar stands upright in a dense rib that holds its shape through a full day of wear. It rests close enough to block drafts while leaving space around the neck.
- Long straight cut. A relaxed body hangs straight down from the shoulders to a low hem. Deep side splits give your legs room to stride freely when you walk in heavy winter boots.
- Apricot yarn hand. We chose a soft, medium-weight knit in a warm apricot shade that feels smooth over bare skin. The knit has enough weight to drop straight without clinging to base layers.
- Washing and shape care. Hand wash in cold water or run on a gentle machine cycle without bleach. Lay the piece flat on a towel to dry so the heavy, wet hem does not stretch the knit.
Living with this one
Do
- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
- Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.
Skip
- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
- Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
