What we would tell you in the studio
- High mock collar. The collar stands upright without folding over, holding its shape around the neck through a dense rib knit. It sits close enough to keep out drafts while leaving room to move your chin.
- Straight long cut. We knitted this piece with substantial length, dropping the hem well below the knee. Deep side slits give your legs room to stride, while the body hangs loose without clinging.
- Sleeve and cuff. The long sleeves extend past the wrist, finished with a neat ribbed edge that holds when pushed up your forearm. The drop shoulder keeps the chest area wide and unconstructed.
- Yarn and wash care. Hand wash in cool water or use a gentle cycle inside a mesh laundry bag. Lay the knit flat across a drying rack so the weight of the damp hem does not pull the shoulders out of shape.
Living with this one
Do
- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
- Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
- Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
