What we would tell you in the studio
- High mock collar. The neck stands upright in a double-layer rib that keeps its structure without gripping the throat tight. It layers cleanly under heavy winter coats.
- Long split hem. We brought the hemline down into an ankle-length line with open side vents. The splits keep the long knit from bunching up around your legs as you move.
- Roomy straight body. The body is cut wide from dropped shoulders down to the lower hem. That extra volume leaves plenty of space underneath for close base layers or fitted knit pants.
- Lightkhaki yarn care. To protect the soft knit from stretching out of shape, hand wash the tunic in cool water and avoid the tumble dryer. Lay it flat across a drying rack.
Living with this one
Do
- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
- Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.
Skip
- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
- Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
