What we would tell you in the studio
- Roomy long cut. The knit falls straight and loose down the torso, resting well below the knee. Because the body is cut wide, it hangs away from the frame rather than clinging to layers worn underneath.
- Ribbed crew neck. A close rib bands the round neckline, keeping the collar flat against the collarbone. It pulls on easily over a collared shirt or a basic jersey tee.
- Fuzzy yarn blend. The yarn blend includes wool for warmth and brushed fibres that give the surface a gentle, fuzzy hand. An initial cold wash softens the knit even further before the first wear.
- Cold wash care. Hand wash or run on a gentle cold cycle to protect the fuzzy stitch work. Reshape the piece and lay it flat on a drying rack so the heavy hem does not pull the shoulders out.
Living with this one
Do
- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
- Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.
Skip
- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
- Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
