What we would tell you in the studio
- Cut and length. The body falls loose and straight from the shoulders down to the lower leg. It sits away from the frame without gathering at the waist, giving you a full, unbroken line over jeans, skirts, or leggings.
- Yarn and texture. We chose a wool-blend yarn with a brushed, fuzzy surface that traps heat across cold months. The knit has noticeable substance and softens up further after its first gentle wash.
- Neckline and ribbing. A neat crew neck sits flat against the collarbone. Tight ribbing at the cuffs keeps the long sleeves in place at the wrists, balancing the roomy proportions through the body.
- Care instructions. Hand wash cold or run on a gentle machine cycle with cold water. Lay the piece flat on a towel to dry so the long hem and wet yarn hold their shape.
Living with this one
Do
- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
- Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
