What we would tell you in the studio
- Wide foldover neck. The open neckline folds over along the collarbone. You can pull the ribbing down across both shoulders or angle it over one side for an asymmetric line that stays put as you move.
- Batwing sleeve construction. The armholes drop low into a full batwing shape before tapering into ribbed cuffs. This construction leaves plenty of room through the upper body while keeping the lower arm close and tidy.
- Generous straight hem. The hem hangs loose around the hip line without clinging. Because the body is cut wide, it drapes down in soft folds over denim, knit trousers, or base layers.
- Yarn care and washing. Hand wash the knit in cool water or run it through a gentle cycle inside a mesh laundry bag. Press the water out gently with a towel and dry it flat to protect the shape.

Do
- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
- Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
- Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
