What we would tell you in the studio
- Wide convertible collar. The folded rib neckline stretches wide across the collarbone. You can leave it straight across both shoulders or ease it down off one side, where the knit holds its place without digging in.
- Batwing sleeve construction. A low, relaxed armhole gives the sleeves their wide batwing drape through the upper arm. Fine ribbing along the lower sleeve gathers the fabric so the cuff stays put at your wrist.
- Roomy body cut. The body is cut wide and straight, hanging loose rather than hugging the torso. The lower hem reaches the hip, giving you room to wear it loose over trousers or tuck the front.
- Cold wash care. Machine wash on a gentle cycle in cold water using a mild wool-safe detergent. Lay the knit flat on a towel to air dry so the wide neckline and sleeves keep their shape.

Do
- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
- Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
