What we would tell you in the studio
- Folded open neckline. The wide top band is knitted to fold over itself and sit off both shoulders or slide down to expose one side. It stays flat against the chest without bunching up.
- Batwing sleeve shape. We set the armholes low on the body for a deep batwing cut. The knit narrows down the forearm so the extra fabric gathers above the wrist instead of dragging.
- Straight oversized drape. The torso drops in a clean boxy line rather than pulling in at the waist. It clears the hips easily, leaving room to pair over fitted trousers, denim or knitted skirts.
- Washing and shape care. Hand wash in cold water or run on a gentle cycle inside a mesh laundry bag. Press the excess water out with a towel and lay it flat to dry so the wide neck keeps its line.
Living with this one
Do
- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
- Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
- Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
