What we would tell you in the studio

  • Folded open neck. The wide neckband folds over itself and stays where you place it. You can wear it straight across both shoulders or pull it down over one side for an asymmetric line across the collarbone.
  • Roomy batwing cut. We set the sleeves low into the body of the knit. The fabric drapes loosely through the chest and upper arm, then tapers down into a closer wrist so the cuffs stay put when pushed up.
  • White yarn hand. Knitted in a solid white yarn with a medium weight. The surface is smooth and soft directly against the skin, giving the body of the jumper enough heft to hang clear of the waist.
  • Knit care routine. Wash in cold water on a gentle cycle or wash by hand. Squeeze out excess water without twisting the knit, then lay it flat on a dry towel away from direct heat so the neckline keeps its shape.

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
