What we would tell you in the studio
- Open crochet stitch. The loose yarn pattern creates wide spaces across the body. This open construction stays light in warm weather and allows whatever you wear underneath to show through.
- Adjustable tie front. Two knitted cords fasten the deep front opening. You can knot them close to hold the panels together or leave them loose for a wider split through the torso.
- Sleeveless straight cut. The body drops straight from the shoulders without clinging at the sides. Wide armholes give your arms full clearance and keep the fabric from bunching over underlayers.
- Hand wash care. Submerge the knit in cool water with mild soap and press the moisture out gently with a towel. Lay the vest flat to dry so the open loops keep their shape.

Do
- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
- Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
