What we would tell you in the studio
- Open crochet knit. The open-work stitch leaves space between yarn loops so air moves through easily. It has a light, dry hand against bare skin and holds its grid-like structure without feeling stiff or heavy.
- Tie-front V-neck. Two front ties secure the open V-neckline over your base layers. You can tie them snug to draw the front panels together or leave them loose for a wider gap.
- Sleeveless straight cut. We dropped the armholes clean and kept the sides straight down to the hip. The roomy profile lets the panels fall straight without pulling across your ribs or back.
- Care for open stitches. Hand wash in cold water using a gentle soap to protect the open-work yarn. Press the water out in a towel and dry flat on a clean surface so the ties and hem keep their shape.
Living with this one
Do
- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
- Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
- Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
