What we would tell you in the studio

  • Crew neck and front placket. The neckline sits close as a neat crew, running down into a flat placket. It stays tidy over collared shirts, plain crew t-shirts, or simple tank tops.
  • Long line hem. The hem drops well below the knee to ankle length. Because the gauge is light, the fabric moves as you walk rather than bunching or holding a stiff outline.
  • Roomy straight cut. We gave this piece a relaxed shape through the body. It hangs straight down from the shoulders, giving plenty of room for underlayers without pulling across the back.
  • Wash and flat dry. Machine wash on a gentle cycle with cool water and no bleach. Lay the knit flat on a towel to dry so the long hem holds its shape without stretching.

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
