What we would tell you in the studio
- Crew neck and buttons. A closely spaced button placket runs up to a round crew neckline. You can fasten it all the way to the collar or leave a few buttons undone over an open collar shirt.
- The medium gauge knit. We chose a balanced yarn weight that holds its shape without turning stiff. The chocolate shade has a flat, even surface that resists pulling and gives the knit a clean finish across the back and shoulders.
- Dropped shoulder cut. The armholes sit low on the shoulder line to keep the sleeve roomy. The body hangs straight down and away from the waist, ending at the top of the hip bone.
- Cold water washing. Wash this knit by hand in cool water or use a gentle cycle with mild detergent. Press the water out with a clean towel and dry it flat to keep the button band straight.

Do
- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
- Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
- Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
