What we would tell you in the studio

  • High neck construction. The turtleneck is knitted in a dense rib that stays upright around the throat without folding over unless you choose to turn it down. It provides full coverage against colder air.
  • Roomy straight drape. The body is cut wide from the dropped shoulders down to the lower hem. Because the knit has weight, it falls straight down rather than bunching around the waist, leaving plenty of room for an underlayer.
  • Ribbed cuffs and hem. Wider ribbing frames the lower edge and cuffs. The sleeve rib draws the extra fabric in close at the wrist, which keeps the long sleeve from sliding down over your hands.
  • Gentle wash care. Wash in cold water on a gentle cycle or wash by hand with a mild soap. Lay the sweater flat across a drying rack to keep the shoulders and hem in their original shape.

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.

  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
