What we would tell you in the studio
- High neck construction. The collar stands tall around the throat without pinching. You can wear it straight or turned down once, depending on how much coverage you want under an open coat.
- Roomy straight cut. We dropped the shoulders and broadened the torso so the knit hangs clear of the waistline. It leaves space for a basic tee underneath without pulling across the back.
- Long sleeve finish. The sleeves run long down the arm and narrow down into a soft rib at the wrist. That keeps the extra fabric from sliding over your hands while you work.
- Washing and shape care. Hand wash in cold water with a mild detergent, or use a gentle machine cycle. Press the water out gently and lay the knit flat on a towel to dry.
Living with this one
Do
- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
- Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.
Skip
- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
- Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
