What we would tell you in the studio

  • High neck construction. The turtleneck collar sits upright around the throat without pressing tight. It holds its fold through daily wear and keeps out cold drafts when worn without a scarf.
  • Roomy straight drape. The body is cut generously wide through the torso, dropping away from the shoulders rather than clinging. This extra space makes it easy to pull over thin layers.
  • Sleeve and hem finish. Long sleeves taper down to fine ribbed cuffs that stay put when pushed up your wrists. The lower hem reaches down toward the hip line with a neat, flat edge.
  • Washing and care. Hand wash in cold water with mild soap, or run on a gentle machine cycle. Always lay the red knit flat on a towel to dry so the collar and hem hold their shape.

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
