We knit this two piece set with a roomy crewneck top and wide-leg pull-on trousers. The top falls away from the body with dropped raglan sleeves, side slits, and a hem that clears the hips. The waistband is elasticated to pull on without hardware. Both pieces share the same striped yarn lot.

What we would tell you in the studio

  • Striped raglan top. The top has dropped raglan seams that leave plenty of room through the shoulders and chest. Fine black stripes run across the body, while side slits at the hem let the knit drape naturally over the trousers.
  • Wide leg knit trousers. We gave the pants a high-rise waist anchored with an encased elastic band. The legs fall straight and wide to the lower ankle, keeping the yarn from clinging as you move.
  • Crew neckline and cuffs. A tidy ribbed crew neck sits flat against the collarbone. Ribbing at the cuffs and lower hem gives the relaxed shape a clean edge so the sleeves push up easily.
  • Washing and shape care. Wash this set in cold water on a gentle cycle or by hand with a mild detergent. Lay both pieces flat on a towel to dry so the knit legs and sleeves keep their shape.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.

  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
